An engineering apprenticeship is a rewarding career path
At Leussink, our people are the heart and soul of our success. Our team members are not just employees but dedicated professionals who thrive in the steel industry. Don’t just take our word for it; hear directly from some of our employees about why they chose to work with.

Gianni Agius
1st Year Qualified Tradesman
Gianni started his apprenticeship in late 2019 and qualified as a 1st year tradesman in January 2024. He first learned about Leussink’s apprenticeship program through his high school careers advisor and was impressed by the company’s commitment to innovation and quality craftsmanship. Gianni enjoys the consistency of working with underground mining parts at Leussink, and finds satisfaction in contributing to essential industries, working on large-scale jobs that challenge and engage him.

Troy Woods
Senior CNC Machinist
Troy came to Leussink with previous experience as a Fitter and Turner at working with manual mills, lathes, and borers. After joining Leussink, Troy began to work with the CNC machines and became fascinated by their capabilities. Troy has mastered various machines, from CNC lathes and milling machines to EDM wire cutting. He enjoys the entire process—from programming to machining—and finds great satisfaction in creating something from raw material to finished product.

Ian Pursey
Workshop Manager
Ian started with Leussink in 1986 as a first year apprentice Fitter & Machinist. As part of his first role, Ian operated a Cincinnati Milling Machine, machining tensile stress test pieces for tubemakers, before progressing to CNC lathes and machining centres. Now in charge of the Workshop at Leussink, Ian has fond memories of his time on the floor. One of Ian’s proudest moments at Leussink was his involvement in the installation and operation of the Zayer Memphis Machining Centre.
