Background

Goulburn-based Fabworx undertakes a wide range of metal fabrication services for the domestic, industrial, commercial, and construction sectors.

Michael Waters established Fabworx six years ago in the NSW regional centre of Goulburn and works primarily with local businesses in a competitive environment. Michael employs five staff and says he’s very focused on the high quality of every job because reputation is paramount in a country town.

Since starting the business, he’s made some significant equipment purchases and always planned to buy a welding table when the budget allowed.

Impressed by Demmeler table

Michael attended the first round of the World Skills competition last year with his apprentice. There, he saw the Demmeler table system in action and was blown away by its versatility and ease of use. When his apprentice was selected to go on to the international competition, Michael decided to purchase a Demmeler table to help with his training.

“It’s 15 years since I was at TAFE, and we had less sophisticated welding systems to use. The guys coming through TAFE now are using tables like the Demmeler system. I look back and think about the many jobs I wish I had the table for,” said Michael.

Great for repetitive jobs

“The Demmeler table is particularly effective for repetitive work where you need to make multiple of an item. Once it’s set up, you can be sure every item will come out the same, whether it’s one or 100. We had a recent job manufacturing 16 stainless steel tables for a chicken farm, and we produced the framework for the table.

“For this type of job, it cuts the labour time in half and takes out that human error factor. Once the work is clamped in place, it won’t move,” said Michael.

“I’m fairly tough on my team. In a small town, reputation is everything, so I make sure every job is of the best quality. The Demmeler table helps reduce the human error factor,” he added.

Pay for itself

Michael expects the Demmeler table system to pay for itself over time. Before making the purchase, he calculated the hourly rate it would save before it paid for itself.

When he contacted Leussink about the Demmeler table, he was pleased to learn that Leussink is Australian-owned, just like his own business. He prefers to deal with Australian companies because local service is essential in his business.

“Leussink was easy to deal with when I purchased the table. I didn’t know much about the Demmeler system, so I asked lots of questions about the ranges and options until we settled on the system I purchased,” concluded Michael.

The Demmeler 3D workbench and welding table system is a versatile jig and fixturing system for all types of welding and fabrication work.
