NEW Mercury Arm: Setting the Standard for Accuracy and Precision

At Leussink we know that one of the most important aspects of any type of engineering work is measurement accuracy. This applies to not only in the general manufacturing field, but also in more specialist areas such as mining and defence, where accuracy in qualifying parts is paramount.
Our new Mercury 1.8m 6-Axis metrology arm, from well-known Italian manufacturer Tomelleri, is the most accurate measurement arm currently on the market for this measuring volume.
Similar to our other Tomelleri Space and Explorer arms, the new Mercury model measures the geometry of physical objects by sensing discrete points on the surface of the object with a probe. The actual part or product is measured and the dimensions are immediately digitised and transferred to a CAD system, where surfaces are developed and drawings are finalised.
Ergonomic and easy to use
The new Mercury model features a unique counterbalance system that makes the arm ergonomic and easy to use. Plus, the counterbalance system also means that you don’t need to affix the arm to a table surface – just place it on a sturdy tabletop or solid interface like a steel or aluminium base with three support points and it is ready for use. This makes it ideal for organisations who need to complete metrology projects on the go. No need to take your part into a metrology lab, with Tomelleri you can take the metrology lab to the part.
For situations where there may be significant temperature variations, the Mercury is thermally compensated, meaning it is able to maintain its high degree of accuracy regardless of temperature change throughout the day.
Available in both 1.3m and 1.8m models, the Tomelleri Mercury measuring arm is lighter, more ergonomic and easier to use than any other CMM we’ve tested.
Compatible with industry leading CMM software
The Mercury arm also works seamlessly with a number of leading software platforms, including Aberlink and the Geomagic suite of software.
Aberlink’s 3D measurement software provides businesses with a powerful solution for inspection measurements that not only increase component throughput but vastly reduces the learning period for new users. Popular throughout the world, Aberlink software is easy to use and cost effective.
Geomagic provides a suite of comprehensive reverse engineering software tools that have been purposefully designed for converting 3D data into high quality CAD models allowing you to virtually scan anything to create manufacturing ready designs.
Ideal for reverse engineering
The Mercury metrology arm makes reverse engineering obsolete parts a breeze, allowing measurement to take place on site, which is a huge advantage for large equipment that cannot be easily moved.
The ability to reverse engineer a part or component is particularly applicable where there are machines that can run 24/7 for months on end, repeating the same process over and over again. Given the potential life span of some machinery, by the time a new major part is required, it may no longer be in production, or it may be too expensive to replace.
This process was not possible a few decades ago, but with technological advancements like the Tomelleri range of mobile metrology arms, coupled with industry leading software, it has become feasible and more economical to reverse engineer components that form part of an expensive plant or equipment.
The partnership between Leussink and Tomelleri
As the name implies, Tomelleri is an Italian company. The company isn’t large by world standards but punches above its weight in terms of innovation.
Leussink are the sole appointed suppliers of Tomelleri metrology solutions in Australia and New Zealand, and we offer a range of services to our customers. We won’t just sell you an arm and send you on your way. Our team of experts will assist you in setting up your arm and software, show you how to use the equipment to take advantage of its best features, and support you after the sales process with ongoing training, accessories, calibration, and more.
We believe a Tomelleri metrology solution from Leussink Engineering will deliver returns above and beyond your expectations, saving you time, money and improving accuracy on jobs.
